I love creating my art with bold color, strong light and strong value change. Organic shapes are my favorite and bringing these up close and personal can be great fun. The joy of painting ordinary objects can be magical. One of the greatest joys is sharing this magic and knowledge with students.-AC
Anna Coe, a South Carolina native, began working in graphite at an early age. She attended schools in Florence County. After moving to Florida with her husband and daughter, she began to study art at Okaloosa Walton Jr. College and Pensacola Jr. College and has had the privilege of studying with some of the best artists in America including the artists at Lynda English Gallery.
Anna works mostly in watercolors and also enjoys pen and ink, pencil, acrylic, colored pencils, pastels and oils. Anna teaches watercolors on Monday evenings at the Lynda English Gallery in Florence and all mediums at her home studio in Darlington, SC. Her students work from beginnng to advance stages.
“No matter what medium I work in, I like capturing realism…”, Anna says. She teaches watercolor to adults, using a layering method that is very easy for beginners to learn. In this method, one can achieve the light transparent look of traditional watercolor to rich bold colors of contemporary art. She also teaches other techniques that allows her students to enjoy the process of learning and creating art. She teaches subjects with strong lights and darks and considers herself a strong value painter and teacher.
Her work can be seen at the Lynda English Gallery, Victor’s Restaurant, and her studio in Darlington, SC.
